Fun in the air!

We put two infant swings up this weekend as an early birthday present. It was quite a production to put them up. John used his extension ladder, but in the end we got them up. The girls LOVE swinging in them. They smile and laugh, and since they are long ropes in a tree the swings really travel. I am excited about a lot of fun being had this spring and summer.

Look who stood up!

Emma stood up today by herself. She did it this morning in her crib and then this afternoon on the music table. I just looked down and there she was, standing up! They are both becoming more and more mobile and adventurous.

A hot day

It was so warm yesterday that the girls just wore dresses. It was fun to see them more as they will be this summer.

Playing "up"

Lately during meal times the girls and I have been playing "up" where I say the word "up" and they hold up a piece of food. Then I say "down" and they put it down. Charlotte especially loves doing this.

Messy kid!

Last night for dinner we had nachos, so Emma and Charlotte had deconstructed nachos. This is the result of Emma's first experience with refried beans. She had them everywhere!

Helping

Both Emma and Charlotte have become much more interested in what I am doing. Friday evening, as I took the clothes out of the drier, Emma crawled over and wanted to help. Of course, her idea of helping is to pull the clean clothes all of the floor, but it is neat to see her want to be involved in what I am doing.

Waiting for daddy

In the evenings while I am cooking dinner the girls usually hang out with me in the kitchen and play (get into trouble). Friday Charlotte kept crawling to the door and trying to pull up to look out. It was really cute.

Jumping girl

Charlotte loves to jump. When you hold in your lap she wants you to help her jump up and down. We pulled the door jumper back out and it has been a hit. She loves bouncing around in it. It is really fun to watch her.

Waiting

Here is Emma last week waiting in her hospital crib for her tear duct probing. She did really great and only cried at the very end, right before we fed her. Probably because she was hungry.

First Valentine's Day

Today E and C celebrated their first Valentine's day.  It is amazing to think that last year this time I was getting so excited for their arrival, and today we were able make valentines, love on each other, and celebrate the day.

Here is the valentine that I helped the girls make for their dad.  They each put their hand print on paper to create the heart, and then on the back I wrote a little poem for him.  It didn't turn out quite as neat as the one I used as an example (another great pintrest find!), but I love that we made it together and John took it to work with him.  Contact paper worked great for laminating it.

John's aunt sent us these most delicious cookies to decorate and eat.  They were incredibly tasty, so much so that most of them got eaten before we even got the icing open.  E and C even had a couple of tastes, their first sugar cookies.

Here are E and C, ready for Valentine's Day with their heart shirts and pink pants.  I have to say that having girls is really fun when it comes to dressing them, especially in pink hearts.

And I will leave you with my favorite moment of the day.  E gave C a hug this evening.  It was very sweet and such a wonderful example of love on this day of love.

*Please keep us in your thoughts tomorrow, E is having surgery on her clogged tear duct and this mama is pretty nervous*

Look who pulled up!

Charlotte has started to pull up on things. She did it here on her folded up pack and play. She is also officially crawling around.

Fun with friends

Today we went to the Columbia public library and participated in their story time for little people. We were not the only set of twins there either. Our friends and in-laws joined us. We had fun hearing stories and singing songs about elephants. Notice the matching outfits!

Fun at the gym

Today the girls and I went to play with some friends at a gymnastics studio. We had a lot of fun crawling around on the soft blocks, sitting in the foam pit and playing with these pom poms. We had Emma's eye appointment in the afternoon. She still has a clogged tear duct, so we have a procedure scheduled in a couple of weeks to take care of it. I feel nervous about it but also glad that she will be taken care of and that it will be cleared up.

Climbing

Tonight John stayed home with Emma while I took Charlotte on some errands. This is how I found them. She was not letting an obstacle stop her from playing. She is a very determined child. Tomorrow we have emma's appointment with the specialist about her eye. Will let you know how it goes.

Climbing the tower

Yesterday the girls found interest in the learning tower. They both tried pulling up on it. Although they were not able to pull up the whole way, they are close. We have also been working on recognition and they are able to look at the appropriate person when I say their name (most of the time :).
